Zakhartsov, Pogonina and Karjakin win at Moscow 2026

The forum closed with two nine-round tournament winners and a decisive Stars Match.

Vladimir Zakhartsov won the Open A section of the Moscow 2026 International Chess Forum with 7.5 points from nine rounds. He finished unbeaten with six wins and three draws, half a point ahead of a six-player group on 7/9.

Natalia Pogonina won the women’s tournament on tiebreak after scoring 7/9. Tatiana Getman and Ekaterina Borisova also finished on seven points.

In the Stars Match, Sergey Karjakin defeated Ernesto Inarkiev 2.5-1.5 in rapid and 6.5-1.5 in blitz, winning the combined match 9-3.
