11-year-old Bodhana Sivanandan beats 2628-rated Maurizzi at Dole Open
The English FM opened the event with a 1-0 win over a grandmaster rated more than 300 points higher.

Eleven-year-old Bodhana Sivanandan defeated MarcAndria Maurizzi in the opening round of the DOLE Open Aix-en-Provence 2026.
The English FM, rated 2303, scored a 1-0 win over the 2628-rated French grandmaster. The game turned after 27...Qb6, with Sivanandan finding 28.b4 and 29.Nd5 before converting the advantage.
The result gives Sivanandan a 1/1 start in the nine-round open, which runs through July 26 in Aix-en-Provence.
